Impulse: Saturday...day after I got out of that god awful hospital...it was my cousin Chris' 19th birthday and the Lilac City Tattoo Convention was going on downtown. My uncle Rick and I decided it would be awesome to attend this event and bring Chris along!! We all three got tatted up and love them. Chris and Ricky both got the same one and they are real cool...checkered flag with torn skin through it...and I...well you can see for yourself :) That is a lyric from my favorite christian song called There Will Be A Day by Jeremy Camp. First time I heard that song I was sitting in my cousin Kenda's living room watching the slide show her husband Ryan had made for his fathers funeral. It really jumped at me and I fell in love with the song immediately. The mixture of rock and christian lyrics really has me interested because I think the two make it THAT much better of a song. Inspiring. Beautiful. Forgiving. Reassuring. Sure it was quick after my release but I dont regret it what so ever...I had a great time and really enjoyed it. Did it hurt? Like a son of gun! Especially closer it got to my "ditch" in tattoo terms...which would be my inner elbow. OH BOY that was definitely painful! Wouldn't have done it any different however...

I had a great weekend...got out friday afternoon and was welcomed home with pizza and movies from the family...woke up saturday morning after a much needed night of great sleep to my mama wanting to take me and my aunt judy (who flew into spoke thursday to see me and gram and mom for their bdays) to the casino!! When we got there they were able to find me a wheelchair that mom could push me around in so I didnt wear myself out...then I got home and Ricky picked me up for the convention!! Got my 5th tattoo and Im in love with it :) Came home to a house full of people for a family bbq of steaks and potatoes...it was wondeful!! And so great to see everyone...then Sunday morning I went to church for the first time in years. Calvary Chapel in Mead...it was so inspiring and eye opening. Pastor Ken is great and speaks to you in many ways if you let him. I really enjoyed that thoroughly...so very much that I went straight to Barnes and Noble in the mall and bought myself my very first bible. Its beautiful. I love it so very much! I have marked each book in my bible with tabs on the side so I can sort through it best I can...and I am getting advice from people around me on how to begin to read it properly! I cant wait to get going with learning a bit more about it...

I have also chosen to better my life with this little guy...he is my new friend and is going to save many years off my life. It is doctor approved and does not affect me physically what so ever. Its my way to stop smoking the nasty things that are slowly killing me and will begin to help me move on from that habit that I so badly needed to kick! I am very proud of myself and I hope that this will be the new beginning to a healthier lifestyle along with all the other good things that I have started to do in my life. I have good intentions and hope to stay on track with every one of them. I dont want to end up like some family members before me that lost their battle in life because they were too stubborn to change the way they lived it. I dont want that to happen to me. I dont want to live like that. I want to live...and live happy and healthy. I will succeed. I will be free of pain. I just know it :)

  1. Amen to positive changes Shay! Such a sign of strength that you can see what needs to change to better your life and then have the courage to take action and change it. Inspiring!!!

As for the Christian music -- I love it too! I found a radio station that I listen to every day with tons of great contemporary Christian songs. It is 89.1 WAY FM... give it a listen :)

What a terrific time you and the Fam had~wished I could have been there, but ya know I am in heart! The tatoo's are pretty. Your inspiring church day was SUPER Wonderful and LOVE that new Pink Bible! Wow you will be "In the groove" at church from now on. I am gleaming from ear to ear and I know that you will succeed in learning the words of GOD, giving up smoking(Mel has that same guy you have just bought too!) It's a extremely hard habit to quit and you have a head start because you are young, Mel is 64! You know years ago there was no warning that smoking was a bad thing for your health, it was just the thing that most people did. Your Grandma Kellogg is also VERY Proud of you too you know :) Just keep praying and knowing that,

    "You Will Succeed"

    "You Will Be Triumphant!!!!"

    Yeah Shaina! Go Girl!

    I LOVE YOU,
    Auntie Jenny
PS...give lots of HUGS to the Family for me :)
    Thanks!
